Purland Chase was built in 1866 in the Parish of Walford as a 'house in the country' rather than a 'true' country house with a landed estate.

The front of Purland Chase had double-height oriel windows in a vaguely Tudor style as seen here.

The house survived a serious fire in 1923 but fell into disrepair and was finallydemolished in 1965.
