Foundries
Ross has been host to several iron foundry and casting companies who were quite large employers during their time in the town. They produced anything from ploughs to household implements to ironwork used on the roads and pavements around the town.
Several of these iron foundries were based in the Crofts area, which has since been converted into a small shopping arcade.
The largest and most well known of these companies was Perkins and Bellamy, followed by the Blake Brothers (Blakes), Kells and finally Nichols and Sons. There were also a number of shops that also had their own small foundries to make items sold in their shops.
