Cinemas in Ross
Ross has had a cinema since 1913 when the Kyrle Picture Palace opened in Gloucester Road. Following this, the second floor of the Corn Exchange, on the High Street, got a license to became a cinema in 1922 and took the name of The New Theatre, but this was destroyed by fire in 1939. Two months after this the Roxy Cinema opened in Broad Street. In 1950, the Kyrle Picture Palace closed and was finally knocked down in the 1970's to make way for shops. The Roxy was then the only cinema and lasted until around 1982 (as I saw ET there) and then that too closed and the area turned into "The Maltings" shopping arcade, due part of it being the Malt House part of the old brewery.
