During May 1989 the east side of Cantilupe Road was excavated; this area of the street was an area of waste ground that was fronted by bill boards
advertising all manner of products and services most likely positioned here to catch the attention of people using the buses at the bus station (which is also on Cantilupe Road).

The original idea was that this would be the site of the new local government offices but in the end it became a series of small shops (as seen above).
