This is a picture of the main road through Peterstow and to the right is the Yew Tree Inn (which is still a pub today) which sold Wintles noted Ales and Stout and provided a Bed and Breakfast service.

There is only one car on the road and one pedestrian, both of which would be extremely uncommon today.

The Post Office in Peterstow is on the right of the shot and the signage shows that it sold Hovis Bread, that Teas could be had beneath the apple trees and there was a public telephone available there too.

This is an old postcard view of Peterstow Church.

This postcard shows the shop at Peterstow and it was run by R.H.Clarke.

From the adverts and signs on the shop front, at this time they sold Lyons Ice Cream, Hovis Bread and Turoc Bread. There was also a telegraph office, post box and telephone box and they also ran a small cafe as the sign states "STOP for teas neath the apple trees". At this time to the left of the shop, which is now the car park, was a small orchard which is referred to in the sign.

The two postcard views below are both looking in the similar direction towards Buckcastle Hill, which is the hill in the centre of the shot, but they have very different titles. From looking at the vegetation and trees, it looks like the left-hand card was earlier than the right-hand one. At the end of the hedge that enters the shot from the middle-left is a spring, this maybe what the reference to Bridgewell is referring to.
